A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with a purse snatching at Guam Premier Outlets and alleged credit card fraud at Don Don Donki in Tamuning, according to the Guam Police Department. A third suspect remains at large.
GPD spokesperson Norman Analista confirmed Tuesday afternoon that police arrested Jonathan David Atalig Untalan, 31, and Jahvanni Sherrae Naputi, 28.
Department of Corrections records showed Untalan was in custody as of 7 a.m. Tuesday. The records indicate GPD arrested him at about 4:30 a.m. Oct. 27 in connection with four police cases.
According to DOC records, the cases and associated allegations include:
GPD case No. 2026-24961: Allegations involving possession, illegal delivery, dispensing or manufacturing of a Schedule I, II or III controlled substance.
GPD case No. 2026-26808: Robbery involving a purse snatching, complicity and destroying evidence.
GPD case No. 2026-26812: Second-degree felony robbery involving an alleged armed offender or the display of what appears to be explosives or a deadly weapon; complicity; eluding a police officer; reckless driving; firearm-related offenses involving the purchase, possession, use or carrying of a firearm without a firearm identification; and destroying evidence.
GPD case No. 2026-26839: Fraudulent use of a credit card, complicity, conspiracy and destroying evidence.
Purse snatching, alleged credit card fraud
Police said the first incident occurred at about 10:50 a.m. Monday, when a woman reported that a man forcefully grabbed her purse in the parking lot of Ross at Guam Premier Outlets in Tamuning.
“No injuries were reported,” Analista said.
Police have not publicly identified the man accused of taking the purse.
The second incident involved an attempted use of the stolen credit card at Don Don Donki, according to GPD.
In a release Tuesday, police said the card was “stolen during the strong-arm robbery at GPO” and was later used in attempted transactions at Don Don Donki.
“A male attempted to make multiple card transactions at a self-checkout register. He was accompanied by a female and another male. After all attempts were unsuccessful, the group abandoned the merchandise. The suspects left the Donki store in a vehicle,” GPD said.
Authorities have not publicly identified the man who allegedly attempted to use the card.
Arrests
Analista said patrol officers located the suspect vehicle in Hagåtña at about 12:40 p.m. Monday and pursued it until it stopped in the Pipeline area of Ordot. The suspects fled on foot into a jungle area.
GPD enlisted Guam Customs and Quarantine personnel to assist in the search using drones. Special Operations Division and Criminal Investigation Division personnel also responded, Analista said.
Authorities searched areas including Ordot Pipeline, Sinajana and Agana Heights for the three suspects and initially apprehended Untalan.
SWAT officers located Naputi in the Ordot Pipeline area at about 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, Analista said.
According to GPD, Naputi was arrested on allegations including second-degree felony robbery with the use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony; third-degree felony robbery involving the use of force against another person; conspiracy; fraudulent use of a credit card; eluding a police officer; and complicity.
The third suspect remains at large, police said.
Tumon game room robbery
Separately, an armed robbery was reported at a game room in Tumon at about 11 a.m. Monday.
“An armed man entered a Tumon game room, pointed a gun at an attendant and then fled the premises,” Analista said. No injuries were reported.
Police have said they believe the Tumon robbery may be connected to the other incidents, but the department's statement about the arrests did not specify whether Untalan or Naputi was suspected of involvement.
On Tuesday, Guam News Network sought clarification from GPD on whether either individual was a suspect in the Tumon game room robbery. A response was pending at the time of publication.
Although GPD said Naputi had been booked and confined, DOC confirmed that she was not in its custody as of 2:57 p.m. Tuesday.
