Guam Department of Education Superintendent Dr. Judith Won Pat confirmed during the June 16, 2026, Guam Education Board meeting that the following schools will remain open for the 2026–2027 school year:

Harry S. Truman Elementary School

Inarajan Elementary School

Manuel U. Lujan Elementary School

Marcial Sablan Elementary School

Merizo Martyrs Memorial Elementary School

Talofofo Elementary School

The meeting was attended by Inalåhan Mayor Anthony Chargualaf, Hågat Mayor Kevin Susuico, Santa Rita-Sumai Mayor Dale Alvarez, Talo’fo’fo Mayor Vicente Taitague, and Malesso’ Mayor Franklin Champaco. Also in attendance were GEB candidate Isaiah Aguon, GDOE employees, students, parents, and community members.

Shortly after Won Pat’s announcement, Mayor Chargualaf emphasized the importance of transparency and requested that mayors be included in future conversations regarding school operations and planning. He also expressed his support for Superintendent Won Pat as she approaches six months in her leadership role.

Additionally, GEB Chairperson Judith Guthertz requested the designation of an alternate representative from the Mayors’ Council of Guam, noting that the current representative, Yona Mayor Brian Jess Terlaje, has been absent from several recent board meetings.

As GDOE continues its research and responds to stakeholder inquiries, students, families, and employees can be assured that these schools will continue normal operations for the 2026–2027 academic year.
