Two weekend medical missions jointly led by
the Guam Healthcare Providers Coalition (GHPC) and
the Department of Youth Affairs (DYA) concluded
successfully, providing critical healthcare services to
underserved youth ahead of the new school year.
A release from DYA noted the first outreach took place
Saturday at the Kattan Youth Resource Center in
Mangilao from 9 a.m. to noon. Youth received physical
exams, PPD immunizations, and high blood pressure
screenings from a volunteer team that included staff
from the American Medical Clinic, a Guam Memorial
Hospital nurse, and University of Guam Pre-Physician
Assistant students.
On Sunday, the effort continued at the Lagu Youth
Resource Center in Dededo with the Guam
Seventh-day Adventist Clinic and UOG students. The
three-hour event provided care to 45 young individuals,
helping ensure that school-aged residents are
medically prepared for the academic year.
DYA centers served as the venues for both missions,
with agency staff identifying families in
need—particularly those without reliable access to
healthcare or transportation. The events marked the
final scheduled outreach for 2025, highlighting
continued efforts to close gaps in youth health access
across the island.
