University of Guam will host its Tritons Night of the Arts on April 9, highlighting the creative talents of its students through performances, exhibits and interactive activities.
The event will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Dr. Lucio C. Tan Student Success Center and is free and open to the public.
Organized by the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost in collaboration with the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, the event will feature live music by current and former music and theatre majors, as well as an art exhibit displaying more than two dozen works by undergraduate students.
Short films created by communication students will begin screening at 5 p.m., followed by a theatrical performance at 6 p.m. The evening will conclude with a poetry slam at 6:30 p.m., where students will present original work and compete for cash prizes.
Attendees can also take part in hands-on activities, including a community art collaboration, a magnetic poetry wall and craft-making opportunities. Demonstrations in weaving and mwarmwar will be led by students from the CHamoru Studies program and the Yap Student Organization.
Informational booths hosted by academic programs will be available for prospective students, while student-run businesses and organizations will sell handmade crafts and artwork.
“We are excited to bring together the community for an evening celebrating creativity in all its forms,” said Senior Vice President and Provost Sharleen Santos-Bamba. “This event reflects our commitment to fostering artistic appreciation and growth, especially among our students.”
