The University of Guam is inviting the community to its 2nd Annual Research Forum, scheduled for Friday, Sept. 12, and Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Jesus and Eugenia Leon Guerrero School of Business and Public Administration Building on the UOG campus. The two-day event will feature presentations, workshops, and tours designed to showcase the wide range of research taking place at the island’s only university.
The forum will highlight projects on sustainable health, innovative plastic waste solutions, and CHamoru language and culture research training. “This year’s Annual Research Forum brings our campus and community together through the power of inquiry and discovery,” said Dr. Sharleen Santos-Bamba, UOG senior vice president and provost. “From topics in engineering to education, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with a wide range of research areas.”
The Sept. 12 schedule will include graduate alumni research sessions, a tour of the archaeology lab, and informational booths from UOG research and auxiliary units. On Sept. 13, attendees can participate in a grants capacity-building workshop focused on finding, writing, applying for, and managing grant awards. The forum is organized by the Office of the Senior Vice President, Academic and Student Affairs, in collaboration with the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. UOG’s research efforts were further elevated in March when the university earned a Carnegie Classification as a Research College and University, placing it among 216 U.S. institutions recognized for significant research activity. The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs currently manages more than $60 million in awards annually, supporting initiatives that strengthen the region’s health, environment, and cultural resilience.
