The University of Guam celebrated the opening of its new Dr. Lucio C. Tan Student Success Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, marking a major expansion of student services on campus.
University officials said the 45,000-square-foot center brings together key resources — including admissions, academic advising, financial aid, student support services, wellness resources, collaborative learning spaces, dining and retail - into a single, centralized location designed to streamline access and enhance the student experience.
University of Guam President Anita Borja Enriquez reflected on the significance of the moment during the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Dr. Lucio C. Tan Student Success Center, calling it a defining milestone for the university, its students, and the region. Enriquez acknowledged local leaders, past and present governors, university officials, education partners, donors, and students who helped bring the long-awaited project to fruition.
She said the new center represents UOG’s commitment to student success and aligns with the university’s strategic goal of ensuring every student receives guided support throughout their academic journey. The facility will serve more than 3,000 matriculated students from Guam and across the region, offering centralized access to student services, academic advising, and support programs under one roof.
University leaders said the center is expected to strengthen ties between UOG and the broader community by hosting events, supporting professional development and providing spaces to learn, gather and connect.
The building is named in honor of Dr. Lucio C. Tan, a Filipino entrepreneur and philanthropist whose $1.5 million donation helped make the project possible. University officials said his contribution reflects a shared belief in education as a driver of opportunity and community advancement across Micronesia.
