Barbecue enthusiasts are invited to sharpen their grilling skills at the University of Guam Land Grant's next BBQ Bootcamp, which focuses on pork ribs this Saturday, June 20.

Following previous sessions on Boston butt, pulled pork, lamb kebabs and tinala' katne, UOG meat and animal scientist Jeng-Hung Liu will guide participants through the art and science of preparing the perfect ribs. The "Rib Essentials" bootcamp runs from 10 a.m. to noon on the UOG campus.

The session will be part lecture and part hands-on, with participants learning about the different primal cuts of pork, how to prepare ribs for slow smoking and tips for smoking at home. Each participant will enjoy ribs during the workshop and take home one fully cooked rack and one pre-seasoned, ready-to-cook rack.

The $35 class is limited to the first 25 registrants. Residents can register at url.uog.edu/bbq-ribs. For more information, call (671) 735-2080 or email Gwindaleen Espulgar at espulgarg@triton.uog.edu.
