The University of Guam improved its standing in four categories of the 2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings, earning higher positions among 110 regional universities in the U.S. West, according to the university.

The rankings evaluate institutions based on academic quality and student outcomes, including graduation and retention rates, social mobility and other indicators of institutional performance.

UOG ranked No. 43 among Regional Universities West, a 10-place improvement from 2026. The university also moved up five places to No. 23 among Top Public Schools West.

In the social mobility category, UOG advanced 17 places to No. 28 among Top Performers in Social Mobility West. It also climbed 11 places to No. 17 among Best Colleges for Veterans West.

“These rankings reflect our commitment to helping students earn their degrees, prepare for meaningful careers, and contribute to their communities,” UOG President Anita Borja Enriquez said. “Our responsibility is to ensure that a University of Guam education continues to transform lives and deliver lasting value to our communities in Guam and Micronesia.”

The university described its improvement in social mobility as its largest gain among the four categories. The category recognizes institutions that enroll and graduate students who receive federal Pell Grants, which are generally awarded to undergraduate students from lower-income households, UOG said.

The university also highlighted its No. 17 ranking among Best Colleges for Veterans West, emphasizing its commitment to serving military veterans and their families.

“Guam has a proud tradition of military service, and our veterans deserve opportunities to succeed beyond their military careers,” Enriquez said. “We are committed to helping them and their families pursue higher education, build new careers, and continue contributing to our island community.”
