Okkodo High School is celebrating a landmark achievement after earning the highest English Language Arts (ELA) test scores in the district, surpassing results from states including California, Oregon and Washington, according to the Guam Department of Education.
The milestone underscores the dedication of both students and teachers, while also ushering in a new era for Okkodo with the launch of its Career and Technical Education (CTE) grading system. The system is designed to give students stronger preparation for academic and career opportunities beyond high school.
To honor the accomplishment, the school community will gather for a campus-wide celebration, highlighted by a performance from the Hawaiian band Pau Hana. The event will blend cultural pride with recognition of academic progress, reinforcing the connection between education and community spirit.
“This is more than a celebration of test scores – it’s a celebration of our students’ hard work, teacher’s commitment, and our community’s support,” said Dr. Rita Flores, principal of Okkodo High School.
