Oceanview Middle School has earned an “A” rating on its latest public health inspection, marking a significant improvement from last year’s 22/C rating, according to the Guam Department of Education.
The school received a score of 10/A, reflecting what administrators described as a campuswide effort to improve health and safety standards.
“This ‘A’ rating is more than a letter grade,” Principal Dr. Rose Castro said. “It is a testament to unity, accountability, and the belief that our students deserve the very best environment in which to learn and grow.”
Officials said the improvement followed months of focused collaboration among faculty, staff, parents and community partners to address inspection findings and strengthen campus conditions.
Oceanview Middle credited support from the GDOE Håya Maintenance Team, the 36th Medical Group at Andersen Air Force Base, the Hagåt Mayor’s Office, the Humåtak Mayor’s Office, the Santa Rita Mayor’s Office and the Agat Community Church. Partners assisted with facilities preparation, grounds maintenance, volunteer efforts and planning.
Acting Superintendent Judith T. Won Pat said the achievement reflects a broader commitment to maintaining safe and healthy learning environments across Guam’s public schools.
School leaders said they intend to sustain the improvements and continue building a culture of accountability.
