Students at most Guam Department of Education schools will not attend classes on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, as the day has been designated a Professional Development Day for GDOE employees, the department announced in a press release dated Dec. 29, 2025.
Classes for students will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026, according to the release issued by Public Information Officer Damen Michael Borja. The professional development day applies across the district, with the exception of four schools that will hold classes on Monday to maintain instructional time due to double-session schedules.
The four schools continuing classes on Jan. 5 are John F. Kennedy High School, Okkodo High School, Simon Sanchez High School and F.B. Leon Guerrero Middle School. These campuses will operate on their regular bell schedules.
GDOE officials encouraged parents and guardians to contact their child’s school directly for school-specific information, schedules and any additional updates.
