Newly appointed deputy superintendents of the Guam Department of Education began islandwide school visits during their first week in office, focusing on listening to the concerns of administrators, teachers and staff, the agency announced Thursday.
According to a GDOE news release, the site visits are intended to give the new leadership team firsthand insight into school operations and identify opportunities to strengthen support for students and employees.
“Our goal is to listen first,” said Jackie Quitugua, deputy superintendent of educational support and community learning. “These visits allow us to hear directly from our schools, better understand their needs, and identify areas where we can work collaboratively to strengthen support for students and staff.”
During the visits, stakeholders provided feedback on a range of issues, including instructional support, staffing, student services, facilities, communication and operational processes.
The deputy superintendents emphasized that engaging directly with school communities is essential to ensuring district-level decisions are informed, responsive and aligned with student success, the release stated.
