Mt. Carmel Academy Charter School has completed its Industrial Arts and Manufacturing Innovation Lab in partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense's Manufacturing and Engineering Education Reimagined for ALL (MEERA) program.
The partnership brings industrial arts and manufacturing into the classroom, designed to introduce students to careers in advanced manufacturing through hands-on instruction in robotics, computer numerical control machining, welding, additive manufacturing, engineering, precision measurement and quality inspection.
The partnership with MEERA began in October 2025 and came to fruition with a visit from MEERA representatives who traveled from Virginia to complete the installation of advanced manufacturing equipment at the school's southern campus.
"The program aligns with Mount Carmel Academy Charter School's project-based learning model by allowing students to apply classroom concepts to real-world projects while developing technical and problem-solving skills," Mt. Carmel said.
