Guam News has confirmed with sources close to former Senator Mary Camacho Torres (R-Guam) that she will be running for public office again in 2026, following recent community speculation. She is expected to seek a seat as Guam’s Delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives. A source informed Guam News that she plans to make an official announcement in the coming months, indicating that Representative James “Jim” Moylan (R-Guam), should he seek re-election, will face an opponent in August 2026 Primary Election.
Former Sen. Camacho Torres served four consecutive terms in the Guam Legislature, from the 33rd in 2015 to the 36th in 2022. In late June 2022, she announced her decision not to seek re-election after her fourth term in a letter addressed to the people of Guam.
Prior to her legislative career, she held distinguished roles, including General Manager for the Port Authority of Guam, Executive Manager and Deputy Executive Manager at the Guam International Airport Authority, Deputy General Manager of the Guam Visitors Bureau, and Law Office Manager for a private law firm.
She comes from a prominent political family. She is the sister of former Governor Felix P. Camacho (R-Guam), who served from January 2003 to January 2011. She is also the daughter of the late Carlos G. Camacho (R-Guam), who was the last presidentially-appointed governor in 1969 by U.S. President Richard Nixon (R-USA) and the first locally-elected governor of Guam in 1971. Former Gov. Felix Camacho previously ran for Congress in 2016 and for governor with Vice Speaker V. Anthony “Tony” Ada (R-Guam) in 2022 but was unsuccessful.
Former Sen. Camacho Torres is married to Chief Justice Robert Torres.
