The Guam Department of Education (GDOE) announced that Liguan Elementary School has earned a perfect Grade “A” with zero demerits in its most recent sanitation inspection, demonstrating the school’s strong commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and healthy environment for students and staff.
The inspection, conducted by the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) on February 17, 2026, marks a notable improvement from the previous year when the school received a Grade “A” with eight demerits.
Principal Johansen K. Punongbayan credited the achievement to the collective effort of the school’s teachers, staff, and support teams across GDOE. “On behalf of the Sihek community of Liguan Elementary School, I extend my deepest appreciation to our hardworking faculty and staff, the GDOE Facilities and Maintenance team, and our GFS staff,” he said. Punongbayan also recognized the school’s Parent-Teacher Organization, which provided essential supplies and materials that contributed to the success.
The school attributes its flawless rating to improved sanitation practices, stronger coordination across departments, and continued emphasis on health and safety compliance.
GDOE Acting Superintendent Judith T. Won Pat commended the Liguan Elementary community for their dedication and teamwork. The department reaffirmed its commitment to helping schools sustain high standards for cleanliness and safety as part of its broader mission to promote student success across all campuses.
