All 20 graduates of the inaugural associate degree in nursing (ADN-RN) class from the Guam Community College have successfully passed the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses, or NCLEX-RN.
Krystal Mendiola, one of the ADR-RN graduates who passed the exam, said, "Becoming an RN has opened so many doors for me that were once just dreams. I truly feel like I’m living in answered prayers, and I’m just cherishing this chapter of my life. Right now, I’m focused on learning as much as I can, taking on more responsibilities at work, and continuing to grow into the nurse I want to be.”
She credited GCC's ADN-RN faculty and staff for helping her succeed in the program.
"They were always there to guide us, encourage us, and make sure we understood what we were learning. Those experiences helped build my confidence and clinical judgment, which I carried with me when preparing for the NCLEX,” Mendiola said.
For Johanna Siguenza, an ADN-RN graduate who has worked with the U.S. Naval Hospital Pediatric Unit for 12 years, said passing the NCLEX has opened the door to a new position.
According to the college, the inaugural cohort graduated from the program in December 2025. GCC recognized the perfect pass rate as a "strong start" for the new ADN-RN program and called the success on the NCLEX-RN a milestone.
“A 100% pass rate for our very first graduating class is an incredible accomplishment,” Virginia C. Tudela, GCC Interim President said. “Every one of these graduates worked hard to reach this point, and their success speaks to the determination and the dedication of our Allied Health Program. Because of this, Guam now has 20 more individuals prepared to serve our community as Registered Nurses.”
GCC will open applications for its third ADN-RN cohort in spring 2027. Classes are scheduled to begin in fall 2027.
