The Guam Department of Education (GDOE) announced that the Close-Up Foundation will host the 2025 Guam Youth Summit from October 14 to 17 at the Hilton Guam Resort and Spa. The summit aims to deepen students’ understanding of the legislative process and inspire civic engagement among Guam’s youth.

Approximately 80 high school students from GDOE will participate in this year’s event. Through hands-on activities and discussions, students will explore how the legislative branch addresses community issues, learn about committee functions, chairperson selection, and the importance of policy research in shaping effective governance.

The summit will culminate with student presentations to the 38th Guam Legislature, where participants will share recommendations on current or future public policy initiatives. Senators and local experts have been invited to join panel discussions throughout the four-day event to provide insights into real-world policymaking.

The Guam Youth Summit is facilitated by off-island Close-Up Foundation education specialists and funded through a grant from the U.S. Office of Insular Affairs.
