Governor Lou Leon Guerrero and Lieutenant Governor Josh Tenorio are inviting the public to join this year’s Government of Guam Labor Day Picnic on Sunday, Aug. 31, at the Governor Joseph Flores Beach Park (Ypao Beach). The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature entertainment, food, and activities for the whole family.
With the theme Lumå'la i Estoria-ta or History Comes Alive, the celebration continues the island’s commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the Organic Act of Guam. Families attending can expect live music, games, refreshments, and cultural activities throughout the day.
In addition to the festivities, the administration will honor the Government of Guam’s most dedicated employees with special awards. Categories include the Director’s Choice Award, Longest Serving Award, Lieutenant Governor’s Choice Award, and Governor’s Choice Award. These recognitions highlight workers whose service, leadership, and commitment exemplify the values of public service and strengthen the GovGuam workforce.
“Labor Day is a time to celebrate the hard work and contributions of our people,” Gov. Leon Guerrero said. Lt. Gov. Tenorio added that recognizing employees in front of family and friends underscores the real impact of public service. “Every day, Guam’s civil servants move mountains to protect the vulnerable, get results for their customers, and shape a brighter future,” he said. The event is free and open to the public.
