The Guam Election Commission has certified the results of the 2026 Primary Election, following a recount of all ballots to include absentee and provisional ballots on Saturday, August 15.
Ahead of the recount, GEC Executive Director Maria Pangelinan explained that it was necessary.
"Based on the results to include the result of the absentees... the threshold would have been 127 and we still have 15 votes difference from 15 and 16 on the Republican side, so a recount is required," she said.
The results of the recount affirmed Democrat candidates Terlaje, Therese-Perez, Sabina advance to the General having garnered 6,446 votes over Tenorio, Joshua-Muna Barnes, Tina who received 5,994 votes and San Agustin, Joe-San Nicolas, Dwayne who garnered 1,050. On the republican side, Ada,Tony -Calvo, Edward advance with 5,179 ahead of Blas, Frank Jr.-Okada, Mary's 3,367.
In the Non-voting Delegate to Congress race, Alicia Limtiaco advanced in the democrat race unopposed with 9,975 votes. Meanwhile incumbent James Moylan (R) received 4,972 votes ahead of Mary Camacho Torres who garnered 3,288.
In the senatorial race the top vote-getters advanced. On the democrat ballot incumbent Sen. Chris Barnet received 9,400 votes, followed by Amanda Shelton, 8.500, Telena Nelson, 7619, Donna Quinata, 7,136 and Clynton Ridgell, 7,086.
On the republican ballot top vote getters incumbents Jesse Lujan garnered 5,662, Sabrina Salas Matanane, 5,242, Chris Duenas, 5,151, Shelly Calvo 4,971, and Eugulio "Shawn" Gumataotao, 4,840.
Now that the results are certified the GEC has recessed until August 18 at 5:30 p.m. at the Westin Resort Guam. During that meeting commissioners will discuss "tabled items" remaining on the agenda to include ratifying the nonpartisan ballots and ballot placements for the 2026 General Election ballot.
