The Guam Department of Education has launched a new initiative to help limited-term teachers obtain full certification for the 2025–2026 school year. The Initial Teacher Certification Assistance (ITCA) Program, part of GDOE’s Curriculum Instruction-Assessments (CIA) Project, aims to strengthen teacher recruitment and retention across Guam’s public and private schools.
The program is open to limited-term teachers with a bachelor’s degree currently employed at GDOE, Guahan Academy Charter School, Mount Carmel Charter School, or Archdiocese Catholic Schools. Applications are now being accepted and will close on October 13, 2025. An orientation session will be held via Zoom on October 8 at 4 p.m., where participants can learn about Praxis exam preparation, testing, and required graduate-level coursework.
According to GDOE, limited-term teachers are classroom educators who have not yet earned full certification. Through targeted training and assistance, the ITCA Program provides pathways for these teachers to enhance their instructional skills while meeting certification requirements. Applications are available online and in person at GDOE’s Personnel Office in Tiyan.
