Grab-and-go meals for students from Tiyan High School and Simon Sanchez High School will be provided during the temporary closure of the Tiyan, Barrigada campus, according to the Guam Department of Education.
The school meal distribution begins Friday, Aug. 14. For Tiyan High students, pickup has been designated at the Barrigada Mayor's Office from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Simon Sanchez students can pick up their meals at the Yigo Gymnasium from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
GDOE said school meals can only be picked up during designated hours. The service provides pre-packaged lunch meals to students confirmed to be enrolled at the schools.
"Staff will confirm enrollment using official rosters," GDOE said, noting students must go to their school's designated location.
Parents and guardians will be asked to sign verification of receipt.
For those students who have transportation challenges, GDOE advised them to coordinate with their school's administrative office to arrange delivery.
"The accommodation is intended solely for students with genuine need," GDOE added.
Parents are advised that the meals are recommended to be consumed within the day or discarded. The initiative aims to ensure students continue to have access to the free school lunches during the temporary closure of Tiyan High facilities.
