The Guam Community College will cut the ribbon Tuesday on its newly renovated Culinary Arts and Baking Center, a "state-of-the-art" facility that doubles the size of its former kitchen and ushers in a new era for GCC’s culinary programs. The ceremony is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Nov. 25 at Building 400 on the Mangilao campus.

Before renovations, the space served as a combined kitchen, classroom and multipurpose auditorium measuring 2,750 square feet. With the auditorium now moved to a separate building, the remodeled center spans 5,500 square feet and consolidates all culinary and baking functions into one modern teaching hub. Student chefs will once again prepare breads, pastries and gourmet dishes that have long been a holiday staple for residents.

The upgraded center also incorporates advanced health and safety technology, including Upper-Room Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation and non-ozone bi-polar ionization systems designed to reduce exposure to airborne illnesses. GCC officials say these features set a new standard for hygiene in educational kitchen environments.

The event marks the return of full culinary activity at GCC after extensive upgrades.
