An assault complaint at the Department of Corrections' Hagåtña Detention Facility has resulted in several inmates being arrested on new charges.
The complaint filed in the Superior Court of Guam alleges that Jacob Anthony Tyrone Meno, Demitre Damian Angoco Hill, Brandon Lee King and MK Makichy assaulted another inmate who was transferred from Bravo Block cell No. 11 to cell No. 5 on Sept. 24.
The complaint states that the victim was "familiar with everyone in the cell."
"He stated that Meno started hitting and kicking him and told the other cellmates to do the same and they all did," the complaint states, noting that the assault lasted about 20 minutes.
According to the complaint, the victim "curled up in a ball in an attempt to block the attacks." The victim alleged that Meno threatened that they would "beat him up" as long as he was in the cell.
The victim informed a corrections officer, who noticed visible injuries, including missing teeth and bruising "all over" his body.
The victim alleged that he had "prior affiliations with the cellmates."
"They used to smoke methamphetamines together. (Victim) used to date Meno's girlfriend," the complaint states.
Meno allegedly made admissions to police but refused to put them in writing.
"If you think these guys don't have access to the statements we write down, you're wrong," Meno said. "Someone inside is leaking who's snitching which is how (victim) got lit up."
He also allegedly confirmed the victim's statement that they both dated the same woman.
"When I saw him come into DOC, I did what I needed to do because loyalty is word," Meno said.
Meno also allegedly said the victim had issues with all of the cellmates, adding, "I'm just gonna tell you this, he had it coming and he knew it."
Meno also allegedly said, "I did what I had to do and my boys helped."
The Attorney General's Office, which filed the complaint, argued that the statements reference the assault.
The complaint states that Meno told police that he and his cellmates would say the victim arrived at their cell "like that."
According to police, when King was interviewed, he denied knowing the victim and said, "he just came there like that two days ago."
Hill allegedly made a similar statement, saying, "he came down like that." According to police, Hill later stated that he didn't know anything and "was sleeping."
Makichy declined to speak with authorities.
The four men are facing charges of aggravated assault as a third-degree felony and misdemeanor assault. The case was continued to Monday.
