The Guam Police Department investigated a reported home invasion at a residence in Agat on Aug. 24 and later arrested a man and a woman in connection with the incident.
The suspects were identified as Mark Demetrio Torre and Danielle Marie Baza. According to police, Torre arrived at his ex-girlfriend's home with Baza. Baza allegedly banged on the front door which was answered by another woman.
Police who interviewed the "ex-girlfriend" on Aug. 27, said, she did not have knowledge of an assault. However, she alleged that she and Torre engaged in a verbal altercation and told him to leave the house.
The complaint alleges that Baza ran inside the residence and began punching the other woman in the head and face about "20 times." The woman told Baza to leave the house but alleged that Torre entered the residence pushing Baza and the woman aside.
"Torre kept going until he reached the bathroom," the complaint said, noting that his ex-girlfriend was in the shower.
When the ex-girlfriend told Torre and Baza to leave, Baza "stood up and walked out to the truck she and Torre arrived in," the complaint said.
The woman alleged that when Torre exited the residence he threatened to "kill her."
Police investigating the incident reviewed surveillance footage that allegedly showed Baza exit the vehicle, knock on the door and "aggressively entering the residence." Authorities described her movements as "a fast, jerking motion."
"Voices could be heard from the residence saying, 'what the explicit,' 'get the explicit out of here,' and 'what did I do to you,'" the complaint said.
Police said the woman sustained "mild lumps on her forehead, discoloration and bruising on her forehead and temple area, slight yellowish color on her skin around the lumps and further bruising on her right hand."
Police said they learned on Sept. 11 that Torre was in Department of Corrections custody for an unrelated matter. During an interview with Torre, police informed him about the surveillance footage and alleged he admitted to getting out of the truck and speaking to his ex-girlfriend while she was in the shower. He then requested for an attorney.
The same day, officers also spoke with Baza, who denied any assault occurring before asking for an attorney.
According to the complaint, Baza identified the woman as her cousin.
Torre was charged with Burglary as a second-degree felony, terrorizing as a third-degree felony and misdemeanor assault. Baza was similarly charged with burglary as a second-degree felony and assault as a misdemeanor. In addition, she was also charged with family violence as a misdemeanor.
Torre was confined to the Department of Corrections with bail set at $2,000. Baza was released on her personal recognizance.
