The Guam Fire Department has acquired four new Dodge Ram ProMaster 3500 ambulances using federal American Rescue Plan funds, officials announced Tuesday. Each unit cost $163,000 and will be used to expand the department’s emergency medical response capabilities.
Fire Chief Daren D. Burrier said the new ambulances represent a major step forward in modernizing GFD’s fleet and ensuring first responders have the tools necessary to meet the community’s needs. “Through the support of ARP funding, we are able to provide our personnel with the proper tools to continue serving our people,” Burrier said.
The vehicles are equipped with basic life support systems, enhanced safety features, and greater capacity to handle Guam’s growing emergency calls, according to GFD. The four units will be stationed at locations across the island to improve response times for residents and visitors.
Governor Lou Leon Guerrero praised the investment, calling it “a great day for the people of Guam and for our emergency responders.” She commended GFD’s firefighters, paramedics, and EMTs for their service and thanked Chief Burrier for his leadership in securing the resources.
