Former Senator Dwayne T.D. San Nicolas (D-Guam) announced via Facebook on August 19 that he has accepted the offer to run as Lieutenant Governor with Senator Joe S. San Agustin (D-Guam), who is running for governor. This team will contest against Lieutenant Governor Joshua Tenorio (D-Guam) in the 2026 Guam Primary Election, who has not yet announced a running mate.
This marks the first official Democratic gubernatorial team to be announced. It follows the Republican team’s announcement in late July of Vice Speaker V. Anthony Ada and businessman EJ Calvo.
Former Sen. San Nicolas is a one-term senator who served in the 37th Guam Legislature. He is also the Founder/CEO of J. Goodman LLC, a veteran, a former Guam Department of Education Guidance Counselor, and a former supervisor and officer at the Guam Customs & Quarantine Agency.
Sen. San Agustin has served in the Guam Legislature since 2017. He is a veteran, a former law enforcement officer, and the former Chairperson of the Guam Education Board.
Lt. Gov. Tenorio has served in his current role since 2019. He previously worked at the Judiciary of Guam from 2011 to 2017, concluding his tenure as the Administrator of the Courts.
