The University of Guam School of Business and Public Administration is now accepting applications for the Pedro “Doc” Sanchez Professional Scholarship for Government of Guam employees planning to enroll in the 2026 Fañomnåkan (Spring) Semester. The application deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2025.
Established in 1988 through Public Law 19-45, the scholarship program supports GovGuam employees pursuing bachelor’s and master’s degrees in public administration and related fields. The scholarship honors Pedro “Doc” Sanchez, recognized for his contributions as an educator, historian and public administrator who advocated for a highly educated government workforce.
A total of 12 scholarships will be awarded this year — six for undergraduate students and six for graduate students. Applicants are required to submit a completed application form, a typewritten essay, two letters of recommendation, official transcripts and verification of employment.
One recommendation must come from a government, education or community leader familiar with the applicant’s performance in GovGuam, while the second must be from the applicant’s supervisor or department or agency director. Applications may be submitted to the SBPA Dean’s Office or online. For more information, applicants may contact Iris Lapid at (671) 735-2502 or email sbpaconnect@triton.uog.edu
