Congressman James C. Moylan is reminding Guam’s students that the deadline to apply for a congressional nomination to one of the United States Service Academies is Wednesday, October 30, 2025, by 5 p.m. Each year, members of Congress have the honor of nominating qualified candidates to the nation’s prestigious academies, including the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. (The U.S. Coast Guard Academy does not require a congressional nomination.)

“Serving in one of our Nation’s military academies is one of the highest honors a young person can pursue,” Moylan said. “Our office looks for well-rounded applicants—young men and women who not only excel academically but also show leadership, discipline, and a genuine desire to serve others.”

Eligible candidates must be U.S. citizens and Guam residents between 17 and 23 years old by July 1 of the admission year. They must also meet the academies’ academic, physical, and medical standards and have no legal dependents. Application packets must include a photo, high school transcript, ACT or SAT scores, a résumé, a 500-word essay on why the applicant wishes to attend, and at least three letters of recommendation.

Completed applications must be submitted in hard copy to the Office of Congressman James C. Moylan, 330 Hernan Cortez Avenue, Suite 300, Hagåtña, Guam 96910, no later than October 30. For more information, applicants can contact the District Office at (671) 922-6673.
