As the new school year begins, the chairperson of the Committee on Education Sen. Vincent Borja will host a town hall meeting to hear from students, parents, educators, and community members about priorities and challenges facing Guam’s schools. The Education & Back to School Town Hall is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 25, at 6 p.m. at the Guam Department of Education Conference Room.
The event will focus on key issues shaping the 2025–2026 academic year, including campus readiness, ongoing maintenance and repairs, and progress on rebuilding Simon Sanchez High School. Concerns at specific campuses, such as F.B. Leon Guerrero Middle School, will also be addressed.
Public health compliance, procurement delays, and supply chain challenges at GDOE remain pressing topics, according to organizers. The town hall will provide an opportunity for community members to share both concerns and successes as schools settle into the year.
The meeting is about working together toward real solutions. Borja stressed, “Your input will help shape action this school year so we can provide a safe, supportive, and effective learning environment for every student and educator.”
