Sen. Vincent A.V. Borja will host a Community Education Town Hall on Feb. 19 at John F. Kennedy High School, continuing efforts to engage students, parents and educators in shaping public education policy. The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the JFK High School gymnasium, according to a release issued Tuesday.
Borja, chair of the Committee on Education, Libraries and Public Broadcasting, said the town hall is part of his ongoing commitment to meeting stakeholders in their schools and communities to ensure their perspectives remain central to decision-making. The forum comes as new leadership settles in at the Guam Department of Education, a transition Borja said makes continued dialogue and accountability especially important.
“Community engagement cannot be a one-time event,” Borja said, emphasizing the need to keep conversations going during periods of change. He said students, parents and educators deserve a seat at the table and that the town hall is one way to ensure their voices are heard as policies and priorities are shaped.
The town hall will serve as an open forum for students, families, teachers, administrators and community members to raise concerns, share experiences and offer ideas related to public education.
