The Guam Department of Education (GDOE) announced that both Vicente S.A. Benavente Middle School (VSABMS) and Finegayan Elementary School (FES) have successfully passed their public health inspections, marking significant strides in campus safety ahead of the upcoming school year. VSABMS improved its score from 38/C in 2024 to 32/C this year, while FES earned a 29/C, with its cafeteria excelling during reinspection with a 0/A rating.
VSABMS expressed appreciation for the collaboration that led to its progress, crediting staff, families, GDOE leadership, and volunteers, including the Church of God and GYSEP Summer Interns, for their contributions. “This achievement reflects the school’s ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment for all students and staff,” the release stated.
At Finegayan Elementary, Principal Marites D.C. Garcia, along with Acting Principal Melvin Finona and Assistant Principal Gerardo P. Galang, thanked stakeholders for their collective efforts. Contributions from FATE PTO, Simon Sanchez High School staff, the GDOE Facility and Maintenance team, and other community partners were instrumental in preparing the campus and cafeteria for inspection standards.
These achievements underscore GDOE’s focus on student wellness and facility readiness. As the 2025–2026 school year begins, both schools stand as examples of successful collaboration toward public health compliance.
