Award-winning actress and best-selling author Edwina Findley will speak to high school and college students at the University of Guam this Friday before serving as commencement speaker at UOG's spring graduation ceremony Sunday.
The free student presentation, titled "The Journey Is Yours: Courage, Confidence, & Choice," runs from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, May 22, in the Dining Hall of the Dr. Lucio C. Tan Student Success Center. Findley will share her journey from Harlem to Hollywood. Registration is limited to 200 students, each of whom will receive a free copy of Findley's debut book, "The World Is Waiting For You."
Findley is known to audiences for her role as Sheila Cannon in Shonda Rhimes' Netflix series "The Residence" and previously starred in HBO's "The Wire" and OWN's "If Loving You Is Wrong." Her book, published by HarperOne with a foreword by Viola Davis, has been described as a roadmap for pursuing purpose.
She will deliver the commencement address at UOG's Fañomnåkan 2026 Commencement Ceremony on Sunday, May 24.
