Astumbo Elementary School welcomed students and their families on January 16 for a successful English as a Second Language (ESL) Family Day, offering interactive activities to support language development and academic success.
The event, led by Dr. Maria Felipe, Fatima Tibudan, and Pamela Villanueva, allowed families to participate in hands-on exercises designed to strengthen students’ English skills. Families also met individually with their child’s ESL teacher to discuss academic progress, instructional strategies, and ways to reinforce learning at home.
Deputy Superintendents Dr. Rizalina Liwag and Mrs. Jackie Quitugua attended the event, meeting with families and gifting storybooks to promote literacy and encourage reading outside the classroom.
The ESL Family Day highlights Astumbo Elementary’s commitment to building strong school-family partnerships, ensuring students receive consistent support in and out of the classroom. The Guam Department of Education praised the ESL Team for their dedication to family engagement and student achievement.
