The Guam Department of Labor (GDOL) and the Guam Contractors Association (GCA) Trades Academy celebrated 39 students who completed trades coursework, including 11 participants advancing under Registered Apprenticeship programs. The recognition took place during a Certificate Presentation Ceremony held at the GCA Trades Academy campus on October 1, 2025.
Governor Lou Leon Guerrero commended the graduates and highlighted the importance of vocational and apprenticeship programs in meeting workforce needs. “These programs continue to strengthen our workforce with the skills necessary to keep pace with industry demands, support Guam’s economic growth, and provide our people with long-term career opportunities,” she said, noting the success of partnerships among government, private sector, and educational institutions.
Among the apprenticeship graduates, three specialized in electrical work, two in HVAC/R, three in heavy equipment operations, two in diesel mechanics, and one in plumbing. Lt. Governor Josh Tenorio emphasized the broader community impact of such programs, stating, “Every certificate earned represents an opportunity not just for the individual but for their family and their community.”
GDOL Director David Dell’Isola praised the students for their dedication and the value their new skills bring to Guam’s workforce. “Every participant in a Registered Apprenticeship program brings unique skills and a great deal of potential to our workforce,” he said.
