The 2026 Guam Gubernatorial Election is officially underway, with the first candidates confirming their teams and displaying their signs across the island.
On the Republican side, Vice Speaker V. Anthony “Tony” Ada is running for governor with businessman EJ Calvo as his lieutenant governor. They are the first confirmed team and the first to display their campaign signs. There is speculation that Dr. Mike Cruz, Adjutant General of the Guam National Guard and former lieutenant governor, may run with Speaker Frank Blas, Jr. Speaker Blas has publicly confirmed his intention to seek higher office.
For the Democrats, Senator Joe S. San Agustin is running for governor with former senator and businessman Dwayne T.D. San Nicolas as his lieutenant governor, forming the first confirmed team for their party. Lieutenant Governor Joshua Tenorio has also announced his candidacy for governor but has yet to name his running mate. However, longtime Senator Tina Muna Barnes is speculated to be his running mate for lieutenant governor.
