The Tumon Night Market scheduled for Sunday, March 8, has been canceled due to forecasts of severe weather expected to impact Guam throughout the weekend.
The Guam Visitors Bureau informed vendors and stakeholders about the cancellation Friday after weather reports indicated heavy thunderstorms, strong winds and a flood watch beginning this weekend and continuing through Monday night. Officials said the decision was made with public safety in mind.
“The safety of our community, vendor family and visitors is our top priority,” organizers said in an official notice to vendors and stakeholders.
The popular night market, held in Tumon, typically brings together local vendors, food stalls, artisans and entertainers, drawing residents and visitors for an evening of shopping, food and cultural activities.
GVB said vendors who have already paid for booth spaces will not lose their fees. Instead, payments will be credited and automatically applied to a future Tumon Night Market date.
Vendors who have questions or require assistance were advised to contact GVB.
GVB thanked vendors and community members for their understanding and said they look forward to hosting the market again once conditions improve. Residents are encouraged to monitor weather updates and take precautions as the storm system moves through the region.
