A large-scale search is underway for a missing fisherman last seen in the Pago Bay area early Monday morning. Authorities identified the missing man as 34-year-old Kevin Nauta.
According to the Guam Fire Department, the E911 Center received a report at 4:29 a.m. about the missing fisherman, prompting immediate search operations along the coastline and surrounding waters. Rescue units from the Guam Fire Department, along with the U.S. Coast Guard and Guam Police Department, responded to the scene.
As of Monday afternoon, GFD, the Coast Guard, and the U.S. Navy’s HSC-25 continued coordinated search efforts, including multiple dive operations and coastal sweeps. GPD officers also searched areas Nauta was known to frequent. He was reportedly last seen after re-entering the water alone, about 50 yards from shore near a buoy. Despite extensive efforts, no new developments were reported by nightfall.
GFD confirmed that dive operations were suspended around 7 p.m. due to low visibility but resumed at first light Tuesday. The U.S. Coast Guard maintained overnight search efforts at sea, while shoreline searches continued. Authorities are urging anyone with information about Nauta’s whereabouts to contact GPD or call 911.
