The Guam Police Department has identified the victim in Saturday morning’s fatal crash involving an SUV and a garbage truck on Route 1 in Tamuning as 31-year-old Christopher Jacobie Lennon Robinson II.
Police said Robinson is Guam’s second traffic fatality of 2026. He was a Federal Civil Service employee, a Civilian Mariner assigned to the USS Frank Cable. His next of kin has been notified.
According to preliminary information, officers with the Tumon-Tamuning Precinct responded to the crash at about 4 a.m. Saturday near McDonald’s in Tamuning.
Investigators said the garbage truck was traveling westbound in the middle lane of Route 1 and attempting to turn right into the McDonald’s driveway when the SUV, traveling behind the truck in the same lane, failed to provide sufficient clearance and struck the rear of the truck.
The SUV driver was transported to Guam Regional Medical City with non-life-threatening injuries. Robinson, who was a passenger in the SUV, was taken to Guam Memorial Hospital.
Police said Robinson later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 10:51 a.m. Saturday by hospital doctors.
The two occupants of the garbage truck were not injured.
Investigators said speed and impaired driving are being considered as possible factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
The Guam Police Department extended condolences to Robinson’s family and friends.
