The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Micronesia Chapter is holding its Third Triannual Meeting on December 9–10 at the Guam Museum, uniting regional tourism leaders, government officials, and industry partners to strengthen cooperation across Micronesia. The two-day event aims to advance shared strategies for regional development as the islands continue rebuilding their visitor economies.
The first day centered on strengthening the organization’s internal operations, with presentations from committees and national and state tourism offices. Discussions will reinforce the importance of collaboration within PATA’s board and committees, emphasizing a collective commitment to promoting Micronesia as a unified tourism region.
Day 2, which is open to media, will feature expert presentations on major opportunities shaping Micronesia’s future. Topics include regional cruise line development, quality-of-life programs supporting military families and local communities, and cultural preservation paired with workforce protections — including efforts to prevent human trafficking in the hospitality sector. Speakers include Hugh Caville of the Cruise Line International Association and Rachel Salas of MWR/Fleet Readiness.
Opening remarks were delivered by Gov. Lourdes Leon Guerrero, Speaker Frank Blas Jr., Sen. Jesse Lujan, and Guam Visitors Bureau President Regine Biscoe Lee, each underscoring a unified approach to tourism recovery.
