The Guam Visitors Bureau says more than 850 travelers from Taipei, Taiwan arrived on Guam for Lunar New Year, marking what officials called a strong start to the holiday travel period.
The visitors arrived beginning Feb. 14 on multiple full flights operated by STARLUX Airlines and United Airlines. The bureau, joined by the Guam International Airport Authority Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighters team, greeted passengers with CHamoru music, souvenirs and an appearance by Kika the Ko’ko’ Bird.
Charter operations were coordinated with Taiwan travel agencies including Lion Travel, Spunk Tour, Sunny World and Phoenix Tour, which marketed holiday packages tied to direct flights.
Officials said all eight charters sold out, reflecting strong demand for Guam as a regional holiday destination and signaling potential growth in the Taiwan market, especially during major travel periods.
Régine Biscoe Lee, bureau president and CEO, said the Year of the Horse celebrations are an opportunity to showcase island hospitality while supporting local businesses. She added that continued support for direct routes and charter service aims to strengthen tourism ties between Taiwan and Guam.
