The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) announced that the Half Marathon division of the 2026 Guam Ko’ko’ Road Race Weekend has officially sold out more than three weeks ahead of race day.
“Not only have we reached our single-runner registration goals for this year’s half-marathon event, but we’ve maxed it out more than three weeks before race weekend,” said Acting President and CEO Frank Arriola.
The half marathon is scheduled for Sunday, April 12, along San Vitores Road in Tumon, starting in front of GVB headquarters. Officials called the early sellout a record, noting that a waitlist has been created for interested runners.
Organizers are now encouraging participation in two remaining race categories: the Ko’ko’ Kids Fun Run and the Ko’ko’ Ekiden relay.
The Kids Fun Run, open to children ages 4 to 12, will take place Saturday, April 11, at 7 a.m. at Governor Joseph Flores Memorial Park along Ypao Beach. The Ekiden relay, a four-person team race, will begin at 5:30 a.m. on April 12, with each participant running a 3.25-mile leg to complete the half marathon distance.
“We invite teams, clubs, and sports organizations…to form four-person relay squads,” said Senior Destination Specialist Kraig Camacho.
GVB officials said the event promotes fitness, community, and wellness, aligning with the island’s Welcome to Wellness Month, Earth Month, and the Haramatsuri Japan Festival scheduled at Ypao Beach Park.
Proceeds from the race will support conservation efforts for the endangered Ko’ko’ bird, also known as the Guam rail, a flightless species once extinct in the wild and now reintroduced on Rota and Cocos Island.
