Jamaican Grill continues tradition of honoring First Responders on Sept. 11

Jamaican Grill is carrying on a decades-long tradition of honoring Guam's First Responders in remembrance of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia.

The annual tradition which began a year after the 2001 terrorist attacks, recognizes Guam's First Responders and invites them to dine at any of the Jamaican Grill locations as part of its Commemorative Luncheon.

“Since 2002, it’s been our honor to recognize Guam’s First Responders and welcome them to stop into any of our Jamaican Grill restaurants in uniform to enjoy our famous combo plate on us. It is a small way we can gather together never to forget the thousands of lives lost in that senseless tragedy 25 years ago,” said Frank Kenney, co-owner of Jamaican Grill.

Jamaican Grill said the luncheon is open to active-duty police officers, firefighters and paramedics who arrive in uniform and share stories reflecting on the significance of Sept. 11, 2001.

“We are grateful to Guam’s first responders for their bravery and the sacrifices they make each day to keep us all safe. We honor their service and thank them in the way we know best – by sharing serious food together. We look forward to welcoming them back again this year," Kenney said.

The Commemorative Luncheon runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 11.

"Jamaican Grill will serve its signature Chicken and Ribs Combo plate lunch for free for first responders from the Guam Police Department, Guam Fire Department, Airport Police, and the island’s paramedics at all four locations on Guam: Hagåtña in the Chamorro Village, Tumon across Pacific Islands Club, Dededo in the Dededo Mall, and Mangilao close to Guam Community College," the restaurant said.
