Archbishop Ryan Jimenez extended his condolences to the Sisters of Mercy and the Arroyo family following the sudden death of Sister Marian Therese Arroyo, RSM, on Oct. 24. She was 72.
According to the Archdiocese of Agana, Sister Marian recently celebrated her 72nd birthday on Sept. 26 and her golden jubilee — marking 50 years as a Sister of Mercy — on Sept. 27. She served as the Sister Life Minister of the Sisters of Mercy community in Guam.
The archdiocese described Sister Marian as a dear friend to many in the community and a devoted religious servant of Guam. It also called on the community to keep her in their prayers.
Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero also expressed condolences in a separate statement, joining the Catholic community in mourning Sister Marian’s death.
“For more than 50 years, Sister Marian was a pillar of faith, compassion and leadership on our island, spending her life in joyful service to others. Her gentle presence, wisdom and enduring commitment to the community will be profoundly missed,” Leon Guerrero said.
The archdiocese said information about nightly rosaries and Masses will be shared when available.
