Guam is experiencing a major resurgence in Japan’s outbound travel market, earning Top 3 and 4 rankings across leading Japanese travel platforms for the 2025–26 winter holiday season, the Guam Visitors Bureau announced Friday. Activity booking giant VELTRA ranked Guam No. 3 among overseas destinations, while travel-comparison site Travelko listed Guam at No. 4, noting search volume up 120% from last year.

GVB credits its strong recovery to a revamped digital strategy focused on performance-based, conversion-driven advertising. By directing users straight to booking-enabled online travel agencies and metasearch strategy is paying off,” said GVB President and CEO Regine Biscoe Lee, citing double-digit growth and renewed enthusiasm from Japanese consumers.

Several factors are driving demand, including Guam’s four-hour flight time, minimal time difference, competitive pricing, and refreshed brand messaging that appeals to families, couples and millennial travelers. The GoGo Guam Håfa Adai Campaign 2026, launched this month, is also adding momentum. The program provides digital coupons through Guam Pay and broad partner discounts through Guam Bonus, offering added value for visitors and supporting local businesses.

Japan arrivals continue trending upward, with nearly 20,000 visitors in September — a 31.6% increase year-over-year. GVB expects continued growth in FY2026, fueled by expanded OTA partnerships and stronger digital outreach. “Guam is entering a new phase of growth in the Japan market,” said GVB Board Director Ken Yanagisawa.
