The Guam Police Department has launched an internal affairs investigation into Officer Peter A. Pascua, after he was unreachable for several hours while on duty with a patrol vehicle.

Authorities said this is "the first incident of its kind over the last 38 years that current GPD members can recall."

Though the details surrounding the unaccounted hours remain under investigation, police said that on Nov. 1 the last sighting of Pascua was at 3:06 p.m.

"Officer Pascua had called in all secure via radio, but the Tumon precinct was unable to contact him via radio or phone," GPD reiterated on Nov. 6.

GPD sought the community's help in locating Pascua at 9:40 p.m. hours after he was last seen.

GPD later located Pascua at around 12:25 a.m. on Nov. 2 by the Ukudu Power Plant in Dededo.

"We are relieved he was found safe and in good health," GPD reiterated.

The incident has triggered the Internal Affairs investigation which GPD said is standard procedure.

"Officer Pascua has been placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation," GPD said. "To protect the integrity of this active investigation, we are unable to release further details at this time."
