Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero promoted Guam as a strategic Indo-Pacific investment hub during the SelectUSA Investment Summit in National Harbor, Maryland, highlighting opportunities in drone operations, data centers and artificial intelligence.

Leon Guerrero joined federal officials, business leaders and foreign investors at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, emphasizing Guam’s position as a U.S. territory with access to Asian markets.

“Guam is open for business,” Leon Guerrero said, adding the island is “a thriving economic gateway to Asia and the Pacific.”

She attended the opening plenary with U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and participated in a “Future Ready” panel on global investment trends and emerging technologies.

At the Guam booth, Leon Guerrero and the Guam Economic Development Authority met with investors in key sectors. Discussions included Guam’s potential for drone testing and logistics, citing its Pacific airspace and proximity to major trade routes.

Officials also promoted data center development, pointing to Guam’s undersea cable infrastructure and role in the transpacific digital network, along with opportunities to support AI infrastructure, research partnerships and regional deployment of AI-driven services.

GEDA said investor response was strong.

“Guam’s unique combination of U.S. legal certainty, Pacific geographic positioning, and a business-friendly government makes us a compelling choice,” the agency said.

The administration said it aims to expand the Indo-Pacific footprint to diversify the local economy and strengthen Guam’s regional role.
