The Guam Department of Education has received confirmation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges that accreditation has been fully restored.

The Wednesday statement from GDOE follows confirmation earlier this week that “several” schools had their accreditations terminated for nonpayment of a purchase order issued during the 2024 school year under the prior administration.

GDOE said the department received written confirmation from WASC that its membership with the accrediting body is “in good standing.”

“That accreditation is considered continuous and the earlier notice in the change of accreditation status no longer applies,” GDOE said regarding the letter from WASC.

According to GDOE, all schools remain accredited with WASC through the 2029 school year.

Questions regarding the need for two accreditations — WASC and Cognia — and the associated costs remained pending as of publication.
