A 51-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly assaulting her 81-year-old mother with a religious statue and threatening her with a kitchen knife during a domestic disturbance incident on Monday evening, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Superior Court.
Guam police responded to the home around 6:45 p.m. on Aug. 18 and found the residence in disarray, with mother seated at a table, her daughter Michelle Marie Hennegan on the floor, and her son in a bedroom. The elderly mother told officers Hennegan struck her three times on the back and leg with the statue, while the son reported seeing Michelle waving a knife at their mother before taking it away.
Officers no visibly injuries on the mother but recovered the knife, which the son handed over as evidence, and noted broken pieces of the statue on the floor. Police determined the alleged assault occurred between 6:00 and 6:30 p.m. and arrested Hennegan at 7:10 p.m.
Prosecutors charged Hennegan with family violence and misdemeanor assault under Guam law. She was booked and confined following the arrest as the case moves forward in Superior Court.
