The Guam Waterworks Authority (GWA) has rescinded conservation compliance measures implemented July 6 as the agency continues work to restore water service to customers across the island.
Though the measures have been lifted, GWA cautioned the community “that water is a precious resource and should be used wisely.”
“Compliance with water conservation was crucial in our restorative efforts to return water service to the island,” GWA said in a July 17 update, thanking the community for their “patience and cooperation.”
As of GWA’s 7 p.m. update July 17, 99 wells are online with one running on generator power and 100% of booster pump stations online. Production well repairs have been completed and wells Y-14, F-13, M-2, Y-5, A-6 and D-26 are back online, with the last three pending water sample analysis for bacteria.
GWA acknowledged low to no water pressure affecting 198 customers in Agana Heights, Barrigada, Chalan Pago-Ordot, Dededo, Mangilao, Mongmong-Toto-Maite, Nimitz Hill, Sinajana, Talo’fo’fo’, Tamuning, Yigo and Yona.
Eight water tankers have been staged in Barrigada, Chalan Pago, Mangilao, Dededo, Talo’fo’fo’ and Yigo.
A precautionary boil water notice remains in effect for residents who have experienced a water outage of 48 hours or more.
