The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) announced that beginning Tuesday, Oct. 14, the Office of Vital Statistics will temporarily limit the issuance of vital certificates to one certified copy per event. The change comes as the office experiences a delay in receiving the specialized security paper required for printing official records.
In a statement, DPHSS said it understands the inconvenience the limitation may cause residents who need multiple copies of birth, death, or marriage certificates. “The department recognizes the importance of these documents to residents and appreciates the public’s patience and understanding during this temporary situation,” the agency stated.
DPHSS emphasized that the restriction is a short-term measure and assured the public that updates will be provided as soon as additional security paper is received. The department did not specify how long the limitation is expected to remain in place.
Residents seeking more information or clarification can contact the Office of Vital Statistics at (671) 300-9263, 9264, 9265, or 9270.
